Laura Mercier Ambre Vanillé Eau De Toilette

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Hello everyone, I'm chatting about my new favourite fragrance today and its a super nice one! On trips to my nearest Laura Mercier counter I've given this a whiff over and over again.. So of course I had to treat myself to it eventually! Its a beautiful fragrance and I think it'll take me through to the winter months quite nicely.

Until I had actually visited a real life Laura Mercier counter, I wasnt actually aware that they made fragrances. I knew that they have a range of bath and body products but I had never really heard anything about the perfumes that they offer. The ambre vanille scent is something which is totally different from any other scent that I own. It has a sweet undertone but the overall fragrance is quite warming and humble. If you like vanilla this scent will probably be right up your alley, as the vanilla is quite prominent. I also love the packaging of this perfume too, the tall slender bottle looks very high end and professional. For a more accurate description of the scent, heres what Laura Mercier have to say about it: "The soft sensuality of Amber blends effortlessly with the warm comfort of Vanilla to create a fragrance of feminine elegance and sophistication. Infused with fresh floral notes of Tangerine, Tiger Orchid and Heliotrope, and enhanced by Almond, Brown Sugar, Coconut and musky Sandalwood, the effect is an intimate, personal fragrance that is rich, yet discreet." It really is lovely and I highly recommend that you give it a sniff if you're passing.

Cocowhite Oil Pulling/Teeth Whitening

Sunday, August 23, 2015

Hey everyone! Todays post is about something a little different. I recently tried Cocowhite as I have seen so many posts about it on Instagram that I caved. It was a totally different experience from anything I've ever tired before, I've used some teeth whitening strips in the past so this was totally weird to begin with. However, in the end I was pleasantly surprised.

Firstly I want to talk a little about Cocowhite and the idea behind oil pulling, its something that has been used for heathy teeth and gums for many years. The idea is that you swirl coconut oil in your mouth and this naturally draws out all the impurities. I don't know about you but I really don't fancy swirling straight up, plain coconut oil in my mouth.. I'm pretty sure I'd be sick! Cocowhite conveniently packages the right amount of oil for you, as well as adding some flavour. To be honest the flavour isn't that strong and after a minute or too I felt like it has completely faded. I personally opted for the mint flavour but they offer lemon and vanilla too, I can't say what these will be like but I know the mint flavour didn't stick around for long. Its also a really strange sensation of putting oil in your mouth, its not a pleasant texture and the first time I used one of these I could only keep it in my mouth for about 5 minutes as opposed to the 15 thats recommended. I did get used to it though and by the third day I was coping just fine. You get 14 sachets in a box, and you're meant to use cocowhite every day for 14 days.. There were a few days that I missed but I did finish the whole box! Sometimes when I went to open a sachet the oil was solid but this is easily resolved by sitting on it for a few minutes, or popping it in your bra or something! Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the whole experience of Cocowhite. I wouldn't say theres a huge difference in the whiteness of my teeth but I reckon if you're someone who drinks red wine, coffee or eats a lot of curry then cocowhite will remove any staining. Every time I used Cocowhite my teeth felt really clean and fresh, and it also made my tongue feel really clean too. Although I didn't see much in terms of whitening, the benefits of oil pulling alone are enough to make this a win!

Have you ever tried any teeth whitening products?

Purple Sunset Eyes

Tuesday, August 18, 2015

Hi everyone, today I thought I'd share something a little more creative with you all. If you know me,  you know I'm a huge makeup lover but I also have a creative streak too. On a day to day basis I tend to wear pretty natural makeup and I don't really experiment with colour a whole lot. However, Mac recently re-released their Electric Cool eyeshadows and I decided to pick up the shade Highly Charged and this is what happened when I played around one evening! Also.. don't mind my eyebrows, some powder foundation dropped into them and they went a bit weird haha.

I started off with some of Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie eyeshadow through my crease and as my transition shade, then I reached for some bright pink from my Sleek Ultra Matte Brights Palette and put this into my crease. I used my finger to apply the Mac Electric Cool Eyeshadow all over my lid as it has a kind of sponge like texture that I find doesn't work as well with a brush. I blended some Fig 1 eyeshadow from Mac through my crease too and took it into the outer corner. To complete the upper lid added a little of Stars N Rockets from Mac into the centre of the lid for a little pop! Finally I took some of the pink eyeshadow and Fig 1 along my lower lash line and highlighted my inner corner with Stila Kitten. For my lashes I used Ardell 120 Demi's. I hope you guys enjoyed this post, please let me know if you want to see more like it!

URBAN DECAY NAKED SMOKEY PALETTE

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Today I've decided to join in on the hype and talk about the new Urban Decay Palette. I already own all the other Naked palettes so I don't really need this one.. but I promise it'll answer all your smokey eye dreams.

They've switched up the packaging, and I'm totally head over heals. Its a hard plastic casing with a magnetic closer that feels nice and sturdy in your hands. Previously Naked palettes have come in the form of the cardboard and felt combo and then the metal tin style case. I'm a big fan of this as to me it feels much nicer and almost more luxurious. Packaging aside, lets get down to business. The eyeshadow selection is stunning. 12 perfect shades that will literally provide you with any combination required for a smokey eye. There are four matte shades which suit all crease, transition and highlighting needs and 8 pretty satins and shimmers to compliment them. I have also been enjoying the combination of warm and cool colours all in the one palette as it means I don't have to reach for a million different things when I'm creating a look. My favourite colours in this palette are definitely Combust and Armor. Its not a palette for everyday but if you're looking for something a little more dramatic to add to your collection this palette is definitely a winner. I'm also super impressed by the brush that comes with the palette, typically I've not been massively impressed with the brushes that have come along with the previous palettes but this brush is much softer. On one side it has a cute little pencil brush which is ideal for smoking out the lower lash line and the other side has a pretty good blending brush that works really well in the crease. A great addition to my existing collection if you ask me!

My Makeup Picks For Oily Skin!

Sunday, August 09, 2015

Hey everyone, sorry its been a little while since I posted here - everything has just been so busy and chaotic lately. However, I have a giveaway coming super soon so keep an eye out for that! Today I want to chat about the makeup I reach for on a daily basis, I have pretty oily skin and finding products that keep the grease at bay but don't make me look dry and flaky can be easier said than done.

Firstly, I always reach for a primer. Right now I'm loving the Clinique Super Primer in Universal, it has a really lovely texture that glides over the skin and smooths out my pores without feeling heavy and like its clogging things up. It does a pretty good job at absorbing oils in my skin too, but there are plenty of primers out there and I've established that its a matter or trial and error to discover what works best. For foundation I like something with a satin texture, you might be sitting thinking 'oh my goodness' as most would probably reach for something matte in texture. My thing with very matte foundations is that I find as my skin gets a oily throughout the day, the matter the foundation, the worse things look. However, with a satin texture I get a little shiny but my foundation doesn't totally break down and settle into lines and pores as much. I really love the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation as it ticks all the right boxes for me, and even though it says luminous in the title - its a satin finish foundation. I also really love L'Oreal True Match, its a little more budget friendly and works just as well as the Armani one. When it comes to powder - an essential for oily skin - I don't like anything too heavy. In all honestly I like my skin to look perfected but still natural, and as I have dry under eyes over powdering can make my look a little flaky and unpleasant. For setting under my eyes I like a nice brightening powder, I've been reaching for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light, but I also love the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening powder too. For setting my face I'm a massive fan of the Nars Translucent Crystal powder as it sets everything in place and looks super natural, for days where I want to be a little more mattified the Mac Prep + Prime powder does a great job. Touching up throughout the day is an essential for me to keep my face looking fresh so I always have some Mac Fix + at hand along with my Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot powder. The Fix + takes away that powdery look if you go a little heavy handed and is super refreshing, especially in the warmer weather.

Do you have any favourites for keeping your makeup fresh throughout the day?
