Sleek Ultra Matte 'Brights' Palette!

Friday, June 26, 2015

Hey everyone! Today I'm talking about something a little out of my comfort zone - bright eyeshadows. There are so may amazing eye looks on Pinterest, which I'm sure we've all lusted over at some point! I really want to make the effort this year to experiment with makeup and broaden my skills, I feel I'm pretty good at the neutral smokey eye for nights out but I want to expand my options!

I picked up this cute little palette from Sleek as I didn't want to spend too much money on something that I'm not entirely sure I'll like. Personally, I'm not all that in love with the palette either. I love Sleek as a brand and they do some really amazing eyeshadow palettes that I've tried in the past. This one, unfortunately, just doesn't make me jump for joy. The palette is completely matte for starters, which I thought would be a good place to start with colour. These shadows are all totally different in quality though, some swatch and apply amazingly and others are chalky and don't perform. I find I need a good white base under these eyeshadows so that they show up vibrant enough on my eyelids and to be honest, without a base the shadows really don't have much staying power. Its disappointing really but I'm not completely heartbroken. I can work with these shadows, layering them with other products to learn my way with colour but its not a palette I would choose if I already knew what I was doing. I think its a good starting place, for me, but maybe not something to invest in if you're already confident with colour. I find it quite strange too, as Sleek have some really amazing products - this one just isn't for me.

Top 5 Mac Products!

Saturday, June 20, 2015

I'm a MAC girl, I'm not even going to try and deny it. I just love their products, I've never tried something from them and genuinely hated it. So today I thought I'd narrow down my top favourite products from them.. please bear in mind this was extremely difficult for me! I have a few extra bits I have to mention as well haha!

Firstly, I have to mention lipstick. Especially the Lustre formula, its one of my favourites as they're so easy to wear as well as being nice and moisturising too! The Creamsheen formula comes close but sometimes I find it can be a little drying but they are really easy to apply on the go. All in all their lipsticks are just great, I think thats why I have an ever growing collection from MAC! My favourite shades are Plumful and Peach Blossom. Close to first place are their brushes, I particularly enjoy the 187, a large duo-fibre brush thats great for applying bronzer to the face for a nice all over glow. I just find the quality of their brushes to be really on point, and they last a really long time too. My 217 which is my favourite eye brush has been with me for about 2 years now and you really wouldn't be able to tell, the 224 also has a place in my daily makeup routine! In third place, has to be blushes. Well Dressed and Peony Petal are literally on my face non stop, they're really long lasting and there is a wide variety of shades to suit everyone. I've also taken a liking to the bronzing powder in Refined Golden, I'm not usually one for shimmery bronzers but this one just gives the face a really lovely glow that I love in the summer! And lastly, Pro Longwear concealer. Its just brilliant, full coverage, and no creasing under the eyes. It doesn't feel heavy and it lasts all day, admittedly I wish it came in a slightly paler shade but its nothing a bit of blending can't sort out! I also have to mention Fix+ spray, I can't go a day without dousing my face in this stuff, it just sets my makeup so well and takes away any cakiness that may have occurred from over powdering, I love it. And what MAC favourites post doesn't mention their eyeshadows? Need I say more, I think not.

Let me know what your favourite MAC Products are!

Makeup Revolution 'Hot Spice' Blush Palette!

Wednesday, June 17, 2015

My love for Makeup Revolution just keeps on growing every time I try something new from them! They're such a great, affordable brand that don't compromise quality over price. I've tried a few of their eyeshadow palette and absolutely love them so this time I thought I'd go for something a little different. You all know I'm a massive blush lover so this seemed like the perfect match.

I think this palette would be great for someone who's new to makeup. I personally don't need any more blush! But if you're just starting out, these palettes give a great selection of shades to choose from! 'Hot Spice' has a lovely array of peach and coral colours and it has a pretty pale pink highlight shade too. I personally really enjoy this palette as the colours are right up my alley, I think these kind of colours go really well on tanned skin too so I think I'll get a lot of use out of it in the summer. The pigmentation of these blushes is seriously good too, you only need to tap your brush lightly in the pan to get enough colour for the cheeks. I think this is a total bargain at £6 considering the quality and the 8 shades you get to choose from! I think I'll be using this quite a lot and I'll more than likely end up with more of Makeup Revolutions products soon too!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette!

Sunday, June 14, 2015

Hey everyone! I'm finally getting around to reviewing this beautiful palette, if you read my top 5 palettes post you'll already know this is a favourite of mine. I actually got it for christmas last year from my parents and I reach for it so often its ridiculous!

What I love about this palette is it has the perfect combination of neutrals for everyday, but it also has some great colours if you want to add a little drama or colour. I also love how it has a great selection of matte shades, meaning I don't have to reach for something else when I'm creating a look. Too Faced shadows have definitely got to be some of my favourite too, they're so creamy and bendable and there doesn't seem to be any difference on quality between the mattes and the shimmers. The only colour here that I think doesn't live up to the standards of the others is the bright purple, for some reason I just don't find it packs as much punch as the other shades. However, I have swatched it so I'll let you decide! All in all though, its a perfect palette for everyday wear, and for something a little more dressy. I love it - and I might even love it more than I love my Naked palette!

Cheeky Haul! Drugstore/Highstreet!

Monday, June 08, 2015

So I wasn't really shopping for makeup or beauty products, but my local Tesco had a massive reduced section which had way more bargains than I could handle! Initially in my basket there was enough reduced makeup to round the total cost up to £50 which I thought was a little crazy.. I narrowed down my spend to £25 and I got some seriously good stuff! I highly recommend checking out the beauty or reduced section in your local supermarket, you never know what you might find!

I got some oldies and some goodies and I thought I'd share them all with you guys. Most of this stuff was reduced to half price or less which is totally insane! Hence why I ended up with a few things I probably don't need.. I picked up some Head & Shoulders shampoo, which wasn't actually reduced but I've had really bad dandruff lately so I picked up a little travel size to see if this soothes my scalp. I also picked up another (yes, I know) Nivea Lip Butter, but this time in coconut?! I didn't even know they made a coconut version. Seriously if I'd known this before then I would've picked this up long ago! Its such a great lip balm too, and I love all the scents - but this one in particular I love.

On to the major bargains.. I picked up 4 Barry M nail varnishes, which were priced between £1.50 - £2 each (a total steal!). I got an Aquarium Collection Nail Paint in 'Mermaid' a super pretty greeny-blue glitter, a Gelly Nails in 'Guava' which is my favourite formula and I thought this shade would be great for summer. I also picked up a Textured Nail Effect in 'Princess' which is a pretty pink glitter and finally a Silk Nail Paint in Heather which is an amazing lilac colour for spring.

Keeping to the theme of Barry M I also managed to grab some of their eye kohls, which I think were about £2 each. I got one in Bronze and one in White. I love bronze eyeliners on my waterline so I got this to try out, I've also been wanting a white eyeliner for the longest time but never got around to picking one up, so now my life is complete! There were also a few Dazzle Dusts and Fine Glitters, which I love so I grabbed the Dazzle Dust in 39 which is a perfect everyday bronzey-gold eyeshadow and a Glitter in 7 which is a gorgeous pink.

I got my hands on one of my old favourites from Rimmel. The eyeshadow trio in 621 Orion is pretty much what I started out with when I first got into makeup, the three colours are perfect for everyday wear. They have spruced up the packaging since I last owned this but I'm super excited to try it out again now that I'm a makeup veteran haha! I also got a Scandal Eye Paint in 006 'Rich Russet', I have a few of these already and I love the formula so I thought now was a good time to add to my collection. Lastly from Rimmel, I found a Kate Moss Lipstick in 28 which is a really pretty bright pink.

Last but not least I managed to get my hands on a Maybelline Colour Sensational Cream Gloss in 'Coral Blush'. These are my favourite lip glosses as they are completely non-sticky, so I was super happy to find one in the reduced section!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my little (or quite big) haul from Tesco, let me know if you've found any great bargains anywhere - I know I've found a few in Poundland before too!

Current Go-To Blushers!

Friday, June 05, 2015

Hey everyone! Today I thought I'd pick out my favourite blushes and share them with you all! I'm a massive blush lover (or hoarder) so I have a pretty reasonable collection of blushes. It was really hard to decide what to include, but I managed to narrow it down to 5.. Heres what made the cut!

My number one all time favourite blush is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat. Its pretty much what I reach for on a daily basis as it just adds the most beautiful colour to the cheeks. It has a light sheen to it so it also adds a pretty glow without being glittery or overwhelming. The colour of this is stunning too, the most perfect pink flush with a peachy undertone. Coming in close is the Max Factor Cream Puff Blush in Seductive Pink, it has a similar marbling like the Hourglass blush but the colour is much more pink. This is good for days when I feel my complexion is lacking as it just adds that brightness that I sometimes desire! I kind of have a love-hate relationship with cream blushes but my favourite formula is by Clinique. The Chubby Cheeks Blush stick has a lovely cream to powder formula which blends into the skin seamlessly. The colour Robust Rhubarb is also a lovely peachy shade for spring. Sticking with the cream theme (oooh that rhymed.. easily amused) the Josie Maran Watercolour Cheek Gelee (longest name ever) has a lovely sheer formula. Its a lot wetter in texture, and I definitely need a brush to blend it out but the colour Poppy Paradise gives an amazing pop of colour to the face. Last but not least, this is where it got difficult. I love MAC Well Dressed blush, and I do reach for it a lot but I think Benefit Hervana suits me slightly better. I have a very pale complexion and this pinky-peach colour just looks really pretty when its on. But its a tough tie I'd say, I love them both!

These are my favourite blushes right now but I'd love to hear what yours are! Not that I need any inspiration to buy any more blush..

By Terry 'Frozen Quarts' Ombre Blackstar Eyeshadow!

Tuesday, June 02, 2015

Hey everyone! Today I thought I would talk about a recent love of mine, a pricey one but its totally worth it in my opinion. I always hear bloggers like Anna mentioning these By Terry Ombre Backstar eyeshadows so the last time I visited Space NK I decided to give them a little swatch.. Lo and behold, I took one home with me!

What really sold this to me was the fact that I swatched it on my hand in the Space NK store, went and did other things for a few hours and when I looked at my hand again, it was still there! I actually had to scrub my hand to get this off, if I'd reached for some makeup remover it would've come off pretty easy but these things aren't always accessible when you're out and about. This colour is also really amazing, its a pretty frosty pink that pretty much goes well with anything in my opinion. These have a cream type formula when you apply them and they're really easy to blend, but once they set, they're not going anywhere. I have pretty oily eyelids and I don't need to wear a primer when I'm wearing this which is pretty amazing! Its seriously long lasting stuff, but so easy to remove. Pure brilliance in my opinion! More shades will definitely be making there way home with me soon.
