Dainty Doll Eyeshadows!

Friday, August 30, 2013

I can't write about these without mentioning that I got them in Poundland! Yes! Poundland! If you're not familiar with Poundland its a shop that sells a whole bunch of things all at the cheap price of £1!

The only downside to buying these from Poundland is that they were all in sealed packages with stickers on them that were pretty unhelpful, they said things like 'brown' or 'yellow' which to me isn't useful in the slightest! Anyways I chanced my luck and picked up the packets that said 'green', 'purple', and 'brown'. Despite the chance I took I'm quite impressed with what I ended up with! Don't ask me how or why Dainty Doll as a brand has been floating about heavily discounted but I know for sure Poundland isn't the only place that their products have been cropping up.

002 is a pretty beige type taupe colour which I love to sweep all over my lids on a lazy kind of day but it can definitely be incorporated into more dramatic night time looks too! 005 is a gorgeous shimmery purple colour which I think will look great smudged out along the lower lash line with some winged liner on the top for a pop of colour! Lastly 008 is a stunning turquoise shade which is also shimmery which again I think will be great for adding a pop of colour!

All of these eyeshadows are of course shimmery and they are all super pigmented! They do have a little fall down but for a pound I'm hardly complaining! They're buttery soft and also blend like a dream so I'm going to be keeping my eyes peeled for more of their products in poundland next time I'm passing!

Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder!

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Being the pale chick I am, finding a wearable bronzer can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. This bronzer from The Body Shop comes in four shades which means theres something for everyone! I Picked up '01 Light Matte' which is the perfect shade for me!

First of all, I love the packaging of this bronzer! It feels much more expensive than it actually is. The sleek bronzey-orange compact with a honeycomb pattern underneath the top plastic which is so pretty! Not only that but the bronzer itself is embossed with a honeycomb pattern!

The bronzer itself is the perfect shade! Its quite light in colour but its perfectly build-able with not a hint of muddiness or orange! I love the matte finish as it looks much more natural on the skin and it can be used to bronze up the face as well as contour! This hasn't left my makeup bag since I bought it and I love it so so much!

Advertise On My Blog, An Interview & Updates!

Monday, August 26, 2013

I have a few things I want to share with you!

1. I recently did an interview on a friends blog! Megan's blog is so cute and she took the time to ask me a few beauty questions! If you want to read it then click here! Her blog is relatively new and she posts about fashion, lifestyle and the occasional beauty bit.

...

2. I've decided that now is a good time to help out fellow bloggers! I'm now going to allow other bloggers to advertise on my page - all I ask in return is that you do the same for me! If you wish to take part in this then send me an email (claresloves@yahoo.co.uk) or leave a comment! Its as simple as sending along your blog button and I'll send mine back!

...

3. Ever feel like your beauty addiction is becoming too much? Take a read of this and know that you are not alone. I've put myself on beauty buying bans before but I end up with a list for when its over which results in a splurge at the end - kind of defeating the purpose in my opinion! I'm aiming for an overall cut down on my spending in terms of beauty. Only buying something new when I've finished something else or saving for something more special rather than buying everything! I don't think I have a problem or an addiction, I just feel I could save a little more money here and there.

Just a few things I thought I should share, let me know if you want to advertise or if you buy too much makeup in the comments below!

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray!

Saturday, August 24, 2013

Having particularly thick hair, I never really looked into this product at all really. But recently it came free with a copy of Elle magazine and I decided to try it out anyways!

Because my hair is thick it tends to be quite heavy, so if I don't help it out a little at the roots sometimes it can be a bit flat on top with too much volume near the ends. Usually I spray a little dry shampoo in the top and I'm good to go! I've been opting for this over the past couple of weeks in order to give it a try and here are my thoughts!

When sprayed into wet hair near the roots before drying it gives the hair more hold, meaning its less fly away-ish and it sits how I want it to. When sprayed into the roots on dry hair its quite wet and sticky to begin with but once you scrunch your hair a few times with your hands it settles and dries almost unnoticeable. It gives the hair a good hold and fairly spruces up the flatness! It also works pretty good as a normal hairspray too but I find its much wetter and spray can hairsprays tend to be a little easier to use over this. I do however, really enjoy using this. Its become part of my everyday routine and I think I might end up purchasing it once I've finished this cute little bottle!

Nivea In Shower Skin Conditioner!

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

I'm going to be honest, I'm a little bit lazy when it comes to body moisturising. As much as a love my lotions and butters, sometimes it just seems like too much effort when you're in a hurry to get out the door or at night when you get home late.

This new innovation from Nivea is a new saviour for me however! You simply wash yourself as normal in the shower with a shower gel and afterwards massage this into your skin, leave for a few minutes and rinse off! And you're left with nice soft skin without that thick, sticky feeling that body butters can sometimes leave behind. I use the one for dry skin, I haven't personally tried the one for normal skin but I would suggest this one as it doesn't provide as much hydration as a usual body cream would. It does however, leave the skin soft and smooth and leaves behind that lovely typical Nivea scent!

I think this is a great idea for us gals on the go! It definitely saves a couple of minutes in the morning for sure! Since using up this size bottle I've went of to purchase the 400ml tube because I love it so much! Let me know if you've tried this and what you think of the idea in the comments below!

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser!

Sunday, August 18, 2013

Why why why haven't I gotten around to writing about this sooner?! This is honestly my new beauty addiction, I'm going to repurchase it no matter what! I haven't tried a better moisturiser for my combination skin!

First of all this smells absolutely amazing! Kind of like a mixture between freshly squeezed oranges and  sugar! When you next pass your local Origins counter I highly recommend you give this a wiff.

When I'm on the look out for new skincare Origins is always a brand I turn too and with this kind-of-recent release of theirs hitting the shops I couldn't resist giving it a go. As soon as a smelt it I knew it was for me! Its gel like formula sinks into the skin beautifully and hydrates almost immediately. As a day time moisturiser its nice and light but it provides the perfect amount of hydration. Its super refreshing due to the added caffeine and ginseng which is great for waking up your face in the morning.

I'm personally in love with this, if you can't already tell, and it makes my skin feel incredibly soft and plump!

If you're into refreshing, wake me up kind of products but can't use a thick cream during the day due to oily skin etc then I highly suggest you give this a go!

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer!

Thursday, August 15, 2013

I think I might have found the concealer of my dreams!
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer - link.

Recently when I was visiting a MAC counter I decided to take a look at their concealers, I've been in the market for something new for a while now. I wanted something that was pretty high coverage that wouldn't crease or settle in to the tiny lines under my eyes. The lady at the counter was very nice and she helped me pick the right shade. Initially she thought I would be an NW20 but after trying it on we both agreed it was too dark and a little orange on my skin. I asked her about NW15 - knowing it was the lightest shade - and she told me that she'd never used that shade on anyone before as she'd never met anyone who was that pale! This was a little embarrassing as usually I'm a lot paler than what I am right now but because its summer I've been doing a little fake tanning. Not much as you can probably tell, only enough to get to an NC15 haha! She tried this concealer on me and to her surprise and my expectations it matched perfectly!

I've been using this for a little while now and I am absolutely loving it! Not only does it not crease but it lasts all day. On days when I'm too lazy to touch up my foundation throughout the day, by night my foundation is usually almost completely gone but this concealer is still there, still covering like a dream! I find it applies best with a brush as it looks more natural and flawless. When I've tried to apply this with my fingers it went a little cakey and didn't look quite right!

For me this is my new favourite concealer ever, I was a little worried as to what I'm going to do in the winter as this will probably be far to dark but the lady at the counter told me that MAC are planning to release paler shades such as NC13 in the near future! Yipee! I find the pump really useful and hygienic too, sometimes it can pump out a little too much but generally its really handy!

Pick Of The Sticks!

Monday, August 12, 2013

I reach for these types of crayon products a lot, simply because they're convenient and easy to use! Today i'm going to be giving a quick overview as to why these are some of my favourites!

Clinique are known well for their 'Chubby Sticks', These are a super-hydrating lip product with a sheer wash of colour, they're great for on the go and come in so many colours that theres definitely something for everyone! They also have their 'Chubby Stick Intense' which are the same as the original Chubby Sticks apart from they have much more pigmentation and are more like a hydrating lipstick. More recently the expanded the Chubby Stick range and created a 'Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes' which are gorgeous eyeshadows in the form of a giant crayon. I find them super easy to use and they're so creamy to apply to the lid! Revlon have their own contender when it comes to crayon style products. The 'Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains' are great when you're after a pop of colour that has great staying power and a long-lasting effect. The most recent favourite of mine definitely has to be the Boujois 'Colour Boosts' which are like an in-between of the Chubby Stick and the Chubby Stick Intense. They pack a good amount of product as well as super hydration!

What are your favourite crayon style products?

Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara!

Saturday, August 10, 2013

I've been reaching for this mascara more and more which is a little unusual as normally I like mascaras that give loads of volume. However, with it being the summer I haven't been wearing such bold eye makeup and this mascara has been the perfect companion.
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara - link.

It has a long but skinny wand with evenly spaced plastic bristles, this allows it to catch all the lashes and it lengthens them beautifully without any clumping. It definitely adds a little volume but nothing too strong which looks lovely at this time of year! This is the first mascara I've used that has fibres in it, personally I don't notice any difference compared to other mascaras! However, it may be the reason why this mascara is so good at lengthening. I haven't tried the original Lash Accelerator but if its anything like this it must be pretty good! I find the wand really easy to use and I can slick this mascara on in a couple of seconds without making any smudges!

I've been loving this loads! Let me know what you think if you've used it in the comments below and if you want to pick this up its pretty hard to miss with the bright green packaging! I'm still undecided as to whether I like the packaging or not but it doesn't bother me too much as the mascara does a great job!

Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll-On!

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

If you're anything like me, I love to sleep. I could pretty much nap all day if I got away with it although I do try to avoid this haha! Anyways, getting up in the morning is always a struggle and dark puffy eyes are always there to make things worse. I've been using this every morning and I love it so much!
Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll-On - link.

Rolling a little of this on in the morning is great! The little metal roller-ball at the tip is super cooling and wakes me up in no time, not only that but it greatly reduces the puffing under my eyes and eases the dark circles a little. It doesn't banish them completely but it definitely helps and its so refreshing that I can't help but feel I'm a little addicted to using it!

This little green tube is infused with caffeine and vitamin B5 meaning that as well as awakening the eye area it also hydrates it! Its also great to use before applying concealer as it smoothes the area.

Personally I can't get enough of this! Let me know in the comments below if you've used anything like this and what you think of it!

MAC 'Viva Glam Nicki' Tinted Lipglass!

Sunday, August 04, 2013

Summer is finally here! So to keep my face nice and bright to match the season I've been opting for a nice bright lip! More often than not I've been reaching for this gorgeous gloss from MAC!
MAC 'Viva Glam Nicki' Tinted Lipglass - link.

This lipgloss is a super pretty hot pink colour which I think is the perfect addition to bronzed skin and minimal eyes! It really brightens up the face and because its not a full on lipstick the colour isn't too over powering. I love the smell of MAC lipglasses as well as the texture, a few people find them a little sticky but in my opinion this helps them last a little longer and its nothing too bad to worry about. MAC's Viva Glam program also means that all the profits from the products they sell in this range go to charity which is great! A pretty pink lipgloss that helps with charity, what could be better? I personally love a good pink lipgloss and can't get enough of this one!

July Beauty Favourites 2013!

Thursday, August 01, 2013

I really can't believe its August! Soon we'll be wearing our woollen jumpers again and snuggling up with blankets! Personally I can't wait for Autumn as I love keeping cosy, but for todays post we're talking about July where the sun has been shining and I've been doing my best to soak up the rays!

A little more favourites than usual here it would seem but I've really been loving each and every one! Usually I try pick around 5 products but I just couldn't narrow it down this time!

1. Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser - this is great for me as sometimes I'm a little lazy when it comes to remembering to apply body moisturiser.. This nifty wee creation makes it easy-peasy for me! Just slap some on in the shower and my skin is left silky soft! - link.

2. Dove Pure Deodorant Roll On - maybe a weird thing to include? But with the weather heating up sometimes we need to protect ourselves a little more! I hate the smell of deodorant so this scentless buddy with no parabens or other nasties has become my friend! - link

3. Bourjois BB Bronzing Cream - I can't remember if I mentioned this last month or not but this liquid bronzing product is perfect for creating a natural, bronzey glow! - link

4. MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer - Finally I've found something that won't crease under my eyes as well as covering anything I need it too! I might have found a life-long friend here! - link.

5. Barry M 'Blueberry' Gelly Nails - I've literally had this on my nails non-stop, I love how bright and fun the colour is. The Gelly formula is also amazing as it doesn't chip! - link.

6. MAC MSF in 'Adored' - This is from their Tropical Taboo collection and it makes the most perfect coraly-highlighted glow on the cheeks! - link

7. Maybelline "On and On Bronze Colour Tattoo' - link. and Clinique Chubby Stick for Eyes in 'Ample Amber' - link. - I have been wearing this combination practically all month and I loooooove it!

Let me know what your favs are this month in the comments below!
