MAC 'Lightscapade' Mineralize Skinfinish

Monday, July 29, 2013

Another pretty, shimmery product that I've fallen in love with!
MAC 'Lightscapade' Mineralize Skinfinish - link.

I popular product from MAC here I think, why I didn't get my hands on it sooner I don't know! I'm such a sucker when it comes to mineralize skinfinishes as they're always amazing! This is such a beautiful, light shimmer that's perfect for an everyday highlight as its not too strong. However, this could definitely be built up for more of an evening look!

Since we're full swing into summer now with all this unusual sunny weather! I've been setting my face with my regular powder and then afterwards dusting this lightly all over my face and it gives the most gorgeous, subtle glow to the face and generally makes me look more radiant! This powder is beautifully finely milled and if you're on the look out for a multi-purpose highlighter then this is definitely one for you!

Let me know if you have this and tell me in the comments if you use this for more than just a highlighter! See you in the next post!

Nivea Daily Tinted Moisturising Day Cream!

Friday, July 26, 2013

As tinted moisturisers and BB creams are becoming more popular now its the summer months, I can't help but feel that some brands are sneakily increasing their prices. This is a little gem I found when in ASDA (my new place for unintentionally picking up new beauty products) and at just over £3 I thought it was a pretty good excuse to give it a go. On getting home I did a little research and from what I've found this is bit of a marmite product in the blogging world. Some people are absolutely in love with this whereas others really aren't a fan. Personally, I think its pretty good for its price and I think its a great product to quickly apply before you head out the door. Let me introduce the Nivea Tinted Moisturiser - link!

When in ASDA some might have noticed that a lot of their creams and lotions on the shelves are in secured see-though boxes, meaning that you can't test them out on the back of your hand or anything. This tinted moisturiser comes in only one shade 'natural' but I have heard of others finding it in a darker shade in some Boots stores. When products only come in one shade I always think the worst - I have very pale skin and its rare that the 'one shade suits all' suits me. However, I am quite impressed with this. I've leaned that to get the best out of this for my skin I simply need to make sure I don't use too much, when using just the right amount you can't notice at all that this is slightly on the dark side for me, but then again in the summer I tend to do a little bit of fake tanning to warm up my complexion. The coverage is also quite good for a tinted moisturiser, even when I don't use that much.

Also when applying, I'm just going to say it now! This tinted moisturiser dries with a very natural matte finish on the skin but if you're not quick and it dries before you've blended it in, you'll end up with some nice caking going on! I find its best to work in small sections at a time and it works wonderfully. I love how it dries matte too, a lot of tinted moisturisers can be quite shiny once they've been applied and for someone like me with oily skin its not always practical. This lasts quite good on my skin, about the same as any other tinted moisturiser I've tried!

You get quite a lot for you're money with this too, you get a fabulous 50ml which beats the more pricey brands with their more pricey 30ml. Along with this you get the protection of SPF 8 which to some might seem a little pointless but its better than nothing! I really like this tinted moisturiser, its not as luxurious as other I've tried but I find myself reaching for it quite a lot!

MAC 'Love Thing' Mineralize Blush!

Monday, July 22, 2013

A recent purchase of mine which I'm in love with! I mean, what girl can resist a good bit of MAC?
MAC 'Love Thing' Mineralize Blush - link.

This blush is gorgeous and great if you want to quickly add a flush of colour to your cheeks, be warned however! This blush is super pigmented and I ended up having a little bit of an accident why I first applied this haha! Its a super pretty pinkish-red colour with a little bit of gold shimmer running through it. Right now in the summer months I think this blush is a little bit too dark but for the autumn/winter I think its going to look amazing! If you're anything like me of course, you can wear this whatever season! I like using this when I want to brighten up my complexion but I'm always careful not to apply too much! This blusher feels super finely milled and its extremely pigmented! Another great addition to my ever growing blush collection!

Face of the Day #5 Simple Summer!

Friday, July 19, 2013

Its been too long since I did a FOTD post! I am indeed sorry but I hope to be back into the habit of doing it again!

It's a sunny day and I didn't want anything to complicated so I used a tinted moisturiser to even out my skin and then concealed where I needed, after this I powdered everything into place. I gave myself a little bit of colour by using a bright blush and lightly filled in my eyebrows. I kept my eyes really simple with some warm toned eyeshadows and a little bit of black shadow along the lash line, after finishing them off with a bit of mascara I swept on a moisturising lipgloss!

I hope you like this quick FOTD and let me know if you like these posts and if you want me to keep doing them!

Real Techniques Duo Fibre Collection Brushes 'Limited Edition'

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Being a Real Techniques fan, by fan I mean they are the brushes I tend to love the most! I couldn't wait to get my hands on these, so when I saw Amazon had them for £2 off I snapped them up and when they arrived I cracked the box open and marvelled at how soft they are!
Real Techniques Duo Fibre Brush Collection - link.

I'm totally in love with these brushes! Apologies for them needing a wash but hey, at least you know I've actually been using them! These brushes are made from ultra plush, taklon bristles and are hand cut, as well as being cruelty free. These lightweight brushes also have extended handles which are designed to make them easier to use.

The duo-fibre face brush is great if you're anything like me. Sometimes I have a little bit of a heavy hand when it comes to applying powder, probably because the brush I used previously to this was much denser and picked up much more product. This brush however, is great as its not too dense and it picks up the right amount of powder to banish any shine without leaving the face looking powdery and cakey.

Next up is the my favourite of the bunch - the duo-fibre contour brush. I personally like to use this for a few things. I find it great for applying blusher as again its not too dense and it stops you from applying too much product, its also great for contouring for the same reason and because its not completely rounded it shape it makes it easier to fit into the hollows of the cheeks.

Lastly is the duo-fibre eye brush, a brush that makes applying and blending shadow to the crease an ease. I find sometimes when I apply shadow to the crease I can take it up to high or too low, but due to the perfect sizing of this little cutie I no longer have this issue!

All of these brushes are super soft and because they're synthetic they can be used with both cream and powder products meaning you don't have to have a million brushes to get the job done! I personally love the white and black theme of these brushes too, I think it makes them look super sophisticated and sleek. You've done it again Sam! High quality brushes for a great price! If it wasn't for Sam, Nic and my obsession with Pixiwoo I don't know what I'd be using to apply my makeup!

My Current Skincare Routine - Updated!

Saturday, July 13, 2013

Hello my lovelies! Today I want to talk about my new skincare routine which I am absolutely loving! I've finally, finally managed to ditch face wipes all together and I am so impressed with myself haha! I did a skincare routine post a while back which I liked but it wasn't amazing. This routine has been working wonderfully with my skin, and since sticking to it I've noticed huge improvements in my skin! I usually have very oily skin, mostly in the T-zone with the odd dry patch of my cheeks where my skin normally feels a little dehydrated. With this skincare routine both my dry skin and oily skin are improving and I am so pleased! So without further ado, lets get down to it!

In the morning I start my using my Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream in the shower to make sure all the dead skin cells are off my face. After this I use a little of the L'Oreal Micellar Solution on a cotton pad all over my face to cleanse my skin and make sure its clean. I then like to do the same thing with my Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment Lotion as this tones my skin and prepares it for moisturiser. I apply my eye cream next, I use the Clinique All About Eyes one (this is a sample size but I will be purchasing the full size when its done). Finally I use my Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser all over. I love this moisturiser so much! It has a great lemon scent and really wakes my dull skin up, it's also been helping great with my skin dehydration and it controls the oils in my skin too. Once I'm done with all of these steps my skin is ready for makeup! Although sometimes I like to give my skin a break from.

At the end of the day, I love taking off my makeup and cleaning my face - its so refreshing and the feeling of going to bed with a fresh face is amazing. To begin I like to use my Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser to remove most of my makeup and my Clinique Take the Day off Makeup Remover for my eye area. Both of these products do a great job at getting everything off! After this I wipe some of the Clarins Water Purify One-Step Cleanser over my skin as double cleansing is an effective way to make sure every last drop of makeup is removed, especially if I've been wearing any products containing SPF. After everything has been removed I spray my face with my Avene Thermal Spring Water as it's super refreshing and adds in a little bit of the hydration that cleansing can sometimes remove. After this is sweep some of the Origins Make A Difference Lotion over my face and follow up with my Clinique eye cream and my Origins Make A Difference Plus. Lastly I apply some lip balm, I'm really in love with the Nivea Lip Butters Right now, I have a couple and I love them both!

At the end of the week I will apply some of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo to my skin at night before I moisturise to de-clog my pores and my sure my skin stays clear. Once a week I will also use my Dalacin T Topical Lotion which is an acne treatment I receive from my doctor. I like to also use it in advance of the certain times of the month when I know my skin will break out a little, even though I'm generally not bothered by acne or blemishes any more.

So thats how I keep my skin fabulous! I think skincare is so important, even though I'm still quite young I'm a strong believer in the fact that prevention is better than cure! Sorry about the Make a Difference Plus photo being different from the others! I can't find the photo I took of it for the post anywhere! Let me know what you think in the comments!

Fun In The Sun! #1

Thursday, July 11, 2013

So today I thought it would be good to do a sort of outfit post for my blog! I'm trying something new here haha! I'm not a professional but hopefully you guys will enjoy this post!

I'm not the most fashionable person by any means and I'm not particularly photogenic either! However, in the summer I'm a fan of clothes that keep me cool in the heat! I wore a lose bright green top to brighten the look and combined this with a fun flower hairband! Last but not least,  I wore some denim shorts and denim spotted shoes!

For makeup I kept it fairly simple and bronzy and then added a bright lip for a splash of colour since its summer! Hopefully you guys like these posts, please let me know down below in the comments and I shall see you all in my next post!

Top - Primark
Flower Headband - Primark
Sunglasses - Primark
Shorts - old H&M jeans that I cut

Sleek Face Form Palette in 'Light'

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

This little palette is what I've been reaching for an awful lot lately, it has everything you could need for making your face look more fabulous!
The Sleek Face Form Palette in 'Light' - link.

I've always been a lover of Sleek products but with them only being available in Superdrug I find myself not getting my hands on them often enough. For some reason Boots it just easier to access where I live haha! Or maybe I'm just lazy in the fact that I don't walk the short distance to the nearest Superdrug.

Anyways, I picked this up as I thought it would be a great palette to travel with as well as for using on a day to day basis. It has everything you need! A bronzer which is a nice colour, not too orange and not too muddy; a highlighter which is a pale champagne colour with nice shimmer and no horrible glitter and a blusher which is a coraly-pink colour with some nice gold shimmer in it. I personally love all three things in this palette and I genuinely can't fault any of them. As usual, for the price, Sleek have delivered on quality, pigmentation and colour! Another winner from one of my favourite brands in my opinion and definitely a must have if you like to have everything in the same place!

Let me know what you think in the comments! And tell me abut any similar products you love!

Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment Lotion!

Sunday, July 07, 2013

Goodness me this is a beaut! I'm seriously addicted and cannot stop using this!
Origins Make A Difference Skin Rejuvenating Treatment Lotion - link.

Origins say: "Now this skin-redeeming lotion proves that not all visible skin damage is forever. The Rose of Jericho and Cactus Extract, along with skin reviving Trehalose and Sea Haricots help the skin rebound from dramatic dehydration. A unique, natural water-holding complex keeps skin happily hydrated from within. And an Oceanic Flora helps improve the appearance of damage done by UV and environmental exposure."

I bought this as my skin has been being a little bit of a nightmare recently. Its been even more oily than usual but also very dry in usual places at that same time! How confusing right? I'd heard that the Origins Make a Difference range was good at balancing out the skin and making it less oily and less dry - essentially aiming for a happy medium. I've been using this kind of like a toner, putting a little on a cotton pad and sweeping it over my face morning and night, after cleansing and before moisturising. When I use this I notice that not only does my skin feel nice and smooth and refreshed, my moisturiser sinks in much better and my skin is left feeling much more hydrated.

Lately my skin has been looking a little dull and to be honest I think its been on the more dehydrated side - which is not a good thing. I love the smell of this too, I know it wont be to everyones taste but I really like it, its kind of minty-mentol-fruity-fresh..I should just stop trying to describe scents haha but whatever's in it, I think it smells good.

My skin has been soaking this up really well and I've genuinely noticed a massive difference since I've started using it. Its now a staple in my skin care routine (an updated post on that coming soon) and I don't think I ever want to stop using it.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments! Anyone else been having troublesome skin lately or is it just me thats been lumbered with the issue?!

MUA 'Marshmallow' Blush

Thursday, July 04, 2013

A fabulous £1 steal from Superdrug! The MUA 'Marshmallow' Blush - link.

This blush is a super bright pink thats absolutely perfect for the summer. For £1 it has great pigmentation and the texture isn't too chalky or too hard. I actually thought that for a pound that this blush would need a lot of layering - I assumed that the pigmentation wouldn't quite be there but it really is! The first time I used this I ended up looking a little too rosy as I accidentally applied a little too much! If you're in the market for a fun summer colour and don't want to break the bank this is definitely the product for you! I'm in love.

Have you tried any of the MUA blushers? Or found any great bargains on the high street? Let me know in the comments :)

June Beauty Favourites!

Monday, July 01, 2013

Seriously, when is this year going to stop flying by?! Haha, I honestly can't believe its time for another favourites post but there are definitely a few things that have stood out for me this month.

1. Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser - link. This is a recent purchase of mine and I am deeply and madly in love with it! My skin seems to love it too, its so moisturising and has the most gorgeous orangey-lemon scent.

2. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector - link. This gorgeous gloss is super pretty, as well as being amazingly moisturising! I love it so much and I've found myself reaching for it more often that not this month. I have the colour 01 Rose Shimmer.

3. Nivea Raspberry Rose Lip Butter - link. After falling in love with the Vanilla and Macadamia version of this I decided to re-purchase this little beauty in a different scent this time and my goodness, its amazing! I just can't get enough of how this product makes my lips feel.

4. Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream - link. This is an old favourite that I've recently re-discovered and it makes me sad that I ever forgot about it. This hand cream is the only one that actually makes a difference to the condition of my hands and I honestly don't think I could live without it.

5. Sleek Face Form Palette - link. I'm all for multi-tasking with products these days and this little palette is perfect for when you're in a hurry or when you're travelling. I find myself reaching for it more and more as I don't have to look out a hundred different products to get my face done! The blush, bronzer and highlighter compliment each other so well and its just overall a great product.

Let me know what your favourites are this month or if you've tried any of the products mentioned above. I don't think I've done full reviews on any of these products yet but don't worry, the posts will be with you in the near future.
